An environmental health disaster is unfolding in Bangladesh.Around 70% inhabitants are drinking arsenic contaminated water.Death,arsenic related diseases and potential chronic arsenic suffering are increasing day by day.4 million hectares macrophytes rich beneficial wetland are also affected.This investigation demonstrated the effect of exceeding concentration of arsenic on some rooted macrophytes in relation to different arsenic level in 5 different area of Bangladesh.Eichornia crassipes , Potamogeton crispus , Elodea canadensis and Nymphaea nouchali were selected for this study.Except Eichornia crassipes , rest of the three plants showed phytotoxic symptoms at 450 arsenic concentration.Arsenic toxicity resulted necrosis of leaf,die-back of plant and retard the growth.
